Won a Three Gold Medal Award at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and starts with a sweet corn that mixes well with a buttery scent, rye bread, honey, and a dark caramel and smokey char. It has a medium to thin texture on the palate. Corn is quickly present. Honeyed graham crackers, and vanilla cream upfront blend into a back palate of sharp toasted rye bread, oak, cinnamon, and a faintly noticeable char.The finish is on the shorter side with some rye spice and cinnamon.

Some hot cinnamon and toffee, and burnt sugars in there. A little tartness in the finish with some drying astringency. Some water bring out more sweetness and cools off the hot cinnamon and spice.

Four Roses Small Batch
The nose is quite subtle and smooth, there are notes of winter spice and buttered granary toast with thick honey. There are hints of cut flowers and dry hay. The palate is much fuller with a lovely balance. There are notes of manuka honey, winter spice, toasty oak, a little crème anglaise and thick fruit. The finish is of good length with a resurgence from the crème anglaise.
Four Roses Single Barrel
A high-rye whiskey that starts with an aroma of mint and black pepper. Palate is light brown sugar. Hot on the tongue, but carries waves of cinnamon red hots, brown sugar cookies, freshly-grated ginger, and white pepper. Finishes with mint and cherries.

A high-rye single barrel. An aroma of apples, honey, vanilla bean, and a sharp rye zip. The sip is burnt sugary caramel and vanilla blends with an apple and sharp citrus in the front . Sharp cinnamon, rye toast, black pepper, mint in the form of menthol, and charred oak create a very robust rye profile that is finished off with loads of dark, bitter baker’s chocolate way in the back. Finishes long and dry.
High West American Prairie
High West will donate 10% of profits (after tax) from each bottle to the American Prairie Foundation which is building the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states. A nose of things like dark fruit leather, overripe strawberries, hints of anise, vanilla custard, and toasted marshmallow. It has a fantastic peppery pop to it that blends well with the bourbon spice and cinnamon notes that hit up front and the in the back. After that initial pepper pop there are nice notes of strawberry jam. Finishes with cherry licorice and a hint of sherry kick off the aftertaste and then it fades down to green apples before it finishes out with something akin to fresh cut grass and barley.

Bottled between four and six years old. Starts out on the nose with honey, vanilla, and sweet corn. The taste is sweet like robust maple syrup and clean mouthfeel. It finishes rather quickly and cleanly.

Aged at sea to allow the bourbon to "slosh." The theory is that this constant movement of the liquid in the barrels ages (matures) the whiskey faster because more of the liquid is in contact with the wood more often, creating a seriously tasty bourbon. Aged 6-8 years, it has a nose that is sharp, rich, and sweet. Bourbon spice and dark fruit are neck and neck coming onto the palate with caramel behind by an inch. There is a hint of salty. A sight burn and finishes medium-long with both a sweetness and a tartness. Delicious.

There is some nutty flavor on the front end and some cinnamon spice in the middle. Finish - This one burns a bit and has a fairly thin finish, but the sweetness carries through substantially enough to combat the alcohol bite a bit.

Orphan Barrel Rhetoric, 20YO
The first of five annual releases, with 21-25 year-olds to follow. Distilled in the old Bernheim Distillery. The nose if very oaky. Underneath the oak is cinnamon, caramel, baked apple, and a slight nuttiness. The taste is also oaky, but not as overpowering as expected. Along with the oak, caramel covered baked apple from the opening with cinnamon and allspice come through nicely. Finishes is medium length and slightly spicy. Expect an above average burn.
Orphan Barrel Lost Prophet, 22YO
A one-time release, this 22 year old whiskey was distilled in 1991 from what was then the George T. Stagg distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is complex, balanced, easy to drink, and not over-oaked. The spice notes (clove, cinnamon), oak grip, and notes of leather are there, but there’s also a lower layer of sweeter notes (honeyed fruit, soft vanilla, coconut custard) for balance, along with a nice creamy texture. It’s a complete package.

The finish is long with an interesting hint of smoked corn.
Willett Pot Stilled Reserve
The aromas are complex. There is definite citrus on the on the nose with lemon and orange hints. The flavors start out light and buttery smooth, with vanilla, and caramel on the start, with spicy sweetness on the finish. The finish was medium to long with a lack of bite. This is neither particularly low nor high proof bourbon. There are some floral hints and a touch of spice to round it out.

Made from a mash that is 65% Malt and 35% corn. The heavy scent of toasted oak permeates the nose on this one. It’s extremely pronounced. Underlying that are notes of roasted grains, particularly cereal and oats. Heavy oak flavors in this. There is a very powerful undercurrent of sweetness on this whiskey. There are only whisps of corn, but a sweet burnt brown sugar note is prominent, along with graham cracker, pie crust, and burnt butterscotch. A sip of this lingers forever. It’s an exceptionally long finish with that super oaky theme carrying right through. Some sweet cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice peeks through as well, along with roasted toffee.
Parker's Heritage Wheat Whiskey, 13YO
Parker's Heritage Collection release for 2014 is an extra-aged wheated whiskey. A nose of creamy caramel, vanilla, and baking spices followed by nice and sweet with some cinnamon spice. The oak arrives next and then ass you finish the oak gets drier and leaves a bit of coconut on the tongue.

Finished in ex-cognac barrels and has a more lush mouthfeel than regular Crown. The spices also round out quite well in the midpalate and the oak is joined by clove, ginger, nutmeg, and black pepper. Underneath it all is a nice subtle pecan note. The finish for Crown Royal XO is of medium length with light vanilla and subtle spice. Things clean up pretty well at the end of the finish without much dryness.

A nose of graham cracker sweetness with delicate notes of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch. Tastes creamy with a prickly vibrancy that fades into a delicate marzipan dusted grain note. Faint hints of maple syrup drift about. Finishes warm, sweet, and long.
Our favorite. Amber color with an olive cast. Aromas of buttered roasted nuts and caramel taffy aromas follow though on a soft, creamy entry to a off-dry medium body with dried cherry and spice notes in the lingering charcoal and leather accented finish. A solid sipper.

The nose is fairly mellow, subdued. Toasty/lightly-charred wood notes continue to emerge, as the dry wood elements from the barrel, somewhat sawdusty, are much more prominent here than on the nose. The finish has a dry heat to it, and a hint of smoke (no peat) – long and slightly bitter, though still pleasant. We recommend with a cube of ice.
