Aged at sea to allow the bourbon to "slosh." The theory is that this constant movement of the liquid in the barrels ages (matures) the whiskey faster because more of the liquid is in contact with the wood more often, creating a seriously tasty bourbon. Aged 6-8 years, it has a nose that is sharp, rich, and sweet. Bourbon spice and dark fruit are neck and neck coming onto the palate with caramel behind by an inch. There is a hint of salty. A sight burn and finishes medium-long with both a sweetness and a tartness. Delicious.

Slightly hot and peppery initially. Quickly gives way to a mellow, smooth sweetness — hints of rock candy, honey and citrus are subtle. Finish is long and slightly sweet. Thought to be medicinal in the 19th Century.
Starts with a woody nose and the taste is a blast of flavor that combines a really nice balance of rye spice and deep wood notes. The spirit feels lush on the palate but manages to maintain the slightest element of delicacy. The finish is long and delightful, holding on to many of the flavors there from the first sip with just the slightest bit of heat.
Jim Beam Rye
The mashbill is 95% rye — much higher than most standard rye whiskeys out there. It’s brisk, vibrant, and loaded with spice (crisp mint, warming cinnamon, cocoa, hint of anise). Fruit — ripe nectarine, apricot, golden raisin — drizzled with maple syrup. Dry oak rounds out the finish. Bold enough for cocktails. Mature enough to drink neat (or on the rocks).
